Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.

Events this Month

Wildlife Gardening Workshop: Low Input Gardening and Wildlife Ponds, 14th July 2025, 18:00 to 20:30 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (17.4 miles)
Learn how "less" can be "more" in gardening with our visiting expert, then find out for yourself the benefits a pond offers in your garden.
This evening workshop combines a talk on Low Input Gardening and a Q+A session from organic gardening expert Robert Longstaff; with a practical pond exploration session, discovering the importance of water in your garden. The talk will focus on Low Input Gardening. When gardening in harmony with nature, often less is more! You'll learn how to become "almost organic", picking up tips on re-use and recycling, reducing the amount of money you spend on your garden and gardening with nature.
The talk will finish with a Q and A session then a break for tea and biscuits (provided). After the break you'll join, SCEEC learning manager, Charlotte Howe to learn about the role of ponds in a wildlife friendly garden. This will be a practical session - using nets to dip out samples of the tiny animals living in the pond, then learning to identify them. We'll discover what the invertebrate population can tell you about the health of your pond, and how the pond is integral to a healthy and diverse garden ecosystem.
Hot drinks and biscuits provided. This event has been made possible by the Vale of the White Horse District Council Climate Action Fund.
